New Press Release Details Shows on the Olivier, Lyttelton and Cottesloe Stages on South Bank
The National Theatre’s latest season has been revealed thanks to a press release detailing its upcoming shows, which include various productions in all three of its respective venues
At the Olivier National Theatre seven shows have been announced, with “Antigone” beginning the new list from 30th May 2012. It is followed by “Timon of Athens”, “Damned for Despair”, “The Count of Monte Cristo” and “London Road”, the latter of which recently won a Critics’ Choice Award following its run last year. In 2013 the Olivier is then the home to “The Captain of Kopenick” and “Othello”.
Prior to these productions, the press release also reminds us of current shows like “She Stoops to Conquer”, which is followed by “Collaborators” in May.
At the Lyttelton National Theatre the productions that have been announced include “Misterman” from April, which will feature Hollywood actor Cillian Murphy in the lead. The actor is best known for movies that include “28 Days Later”, “Inception”, “Red Eye”, “Batman Begins” and “Sunshine”.
That production is followed by “The Last of the Haussmans”, which will featture Rory Kinnear (who also appears in the Olivier’s “Othello”), Julie Walters and Helen McCrory, “The Doctor’s Dilemma”, “People” and “Children of the Sun”. They follow the upcoming “Can We Talk About This”, which appears at the venue from March 2012.
Finally, at the Cottesloe National Theatre, the shows that have been announced include “Moon on a Rainbow Shawl” from March with Jude Akuwudike, Jade Anouka Jenny Jules and Danny Sapani. It is followed by “Black T-Shirt Collection”, “Detroit”, the UK premiere of Lisa D-Amour’s show that previously appeared in Chicago, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”, which will feature Una Stubbs, Luke Treadaway and Nicola Walker, “This House” and “Hansel and Gretel”.
The National Theatre was recently in the spotlight thanks to the Critics’ Choice Awards, which saw the venue on South Bank pick up a total of 5 awards out of the 9 handed out, including honours for last year’s “Frankenstein” and current West End hit “One Man, Two Guvnors”, which continues its run at the Adelphi Theatre.
