With venues like the Sadler’s Wells, Peacock Theatre and the Royal Opera House in town there is always opportunity to witness dance spectaculars in London and with the Peacock Theatre offering this up in the West End a lot of it reaches a wide audience. But in 2012 dance will find its way to the West End via the Aldwych Theatre when the show “Midnight Tango” opens its doors for all to see. It isn’t the first time that dance has taken centre stage in a Theatreland venue, but it is one of many that proves that the West End is the best place to experience entertainment in a wide variety of disciplines.
“Midnight Tango”, as the title suggests, is a celebration of the tango and provides audiences with a memorable story to go alongside the heat and sensuality of the tango on stage, with the action transporting audiences to Buenos Aires. It is here that they will witness the danger and excitement that the tango can offer as the drama bubbles to the surface under the watch of “Strictly Come Dancing” stars Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace. Alongside a team of talented dancers and a band in the form of Tango Siempre they will provide an unbeatable spectacle.
Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace are well known champion dancers whose work with “Strictly Come Dancing” has brought them to the attention of television viewers nationwide. So they will offer some familiar faces to those that pick up theatre tickets to witness the action first hand. They have both been a part of the show since 2006 and prior to that they also competed together in a number of championship competitions and, in the process, earned many different titles over the last decade.
So they know what they are doing and as a result “Midnight Tango” is sure to be a welcome addition to the West End’s dance scene, alongside shows such as “Havana Rakatan”, which appears at the Peacock Theatre in 2011. The celebration of tango even has a familiar West End name as its director – Karen Bruce – and she has been responsible for shows like “Footloose” and “Saturday Night Fever” in the capital.
