The burlesque performer Miss Polly Rae turned many heads back in 2009 with “The Hurly Burly Show” at the Leicester Square Theatre, proving to be a talented stage presence and a name to keep a close eye on. She had emerged onto the burlesque scene only three years earlier with an appearance at the Soho Revue Bar and if the latest development in her career is anything to go by, she has got a great future ahead of her. This is because she is about to bring “The Hurly Burly Show” back to London, this time with a run at the well known Garrick Theatre from March to May 2011. It is likely to be a welcome addition to the West End and one that will have plenty of people picking up theatre tickets ahead of its opening.
“The Hurly Burly Show” is made up of The Hurly Burly Girlys and as well as Miss Polly Rae these include Miss Laurie Hagen as well – someone that might be familiar to those who have watched ITV’s “The Royal” in which she has made an appearance. The rest of the team includes Lady Katy, Felicity Splits, Betsie Bon Bon, Ooh La Lou, Liverty Sweet and Miss Rosey Cheeks.
Then there is director William Baker, best known as a fashion designer who has worked alongside a host of well known pop stars. Though he has directed West End shows such as “Rent” and previous appearances from “The Hurly Burly Show”, he has also worked as a creative director and this has brought him into contact with everyone from Kyle Minogue and Britney Spears to Garbage, Tori Amos and Björk. It makes him a suitable choice to helm “The Hurly Burly Show” and he is likely to bring a lot of style to the stage of the Garrick Theatre as a result.
The result is likely to a welcome addition to the West End, arriving shortly after the equally as impressive entertainers of “La Soirée” finish their run at the South Bank Big Top. It will also be a good year for those at the Garrick Theatre, with the show appearing a month after Lance Horne arrives to present his show “First Things Last”.
“The Hurly Burly Show” appears at the Garrick Theatre from Friday 11th March 2011 (previews from Thursday 3rd March 2011) to Sunday 1st May 2011.
