Neil LaBute is known to audiences all over the world for the variety of movies, television shows and stage productions attached to his name. But whilst many audiences known him as the director of movies like “Nurse Betty” and “Lakeview Terrace” he remains best known to London theatre and New York audiences for plays such as “Fat Pig” and “reasons to be pretty”. The former appeared at the Comedy Theatre in 2008 and featured Robert Webb and other amongst its cast, whilst “reasons to be pretty” was the first of his shows to appear on Broadway. So it is with great anticipation that is latest play arrives at the Vaudeville Theatre in 2011 with two stars of the screen in lead roles – Matthew Fox and Olivia Williams.
In a year that also sees Keira Knightley appear in “The Children’s Hour”, “In a Forest Dark and Deep” will see “Lost” star Matthew Fox making his West End debut and “The Sixth Sense” actress Williams in her latest London theatre production of many. Fox is best known as Dr Jack Shephard in the US television series, which recently came to an end in 2010, though he has enjoyed a career that has lasted since the early 1990s when he made his debut in television’s “Wings”. His other credits include the movies “Party of Five”, “We Are Marshall” and “Vantage Point”.
He will portray Bobby to Williams’ Betty, two siblings that are about to experience more than they expected after meeting to sort out a seemingly ordinary task. They have arranged to clear out the cabin in the woods owned by Betty and instead of getting through this easily it soon becomes clear that there are some mysteries beginning to emerge as truths and secrets, which have been waiting to burst out in the open for some time, begin to reveal themselves.
Olivia Williams will be appearing in front of those on London theatre breaks following a career that has seen her star in movies such as “The Postman”, “The Sixth Sense” and “Peter Pan”. However, she has also previously appeared onstage in productions that include “The Hotel in Amsterdam” at the Donmar Warehouse, “Love’s Labour’s Lost” at the National Theatre and various other shows for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
“In a Forest Dark and Deep” appears at the Vaudeville Theatre and runs from Monday 14th March 2011 (previews from Thursday 3rd March 2011) to Saturday 4th June 2011.
