Latest Review: "Sadly the play has closed already on April 12! After just one week running at Arts Theatre...."
“Wet Weather Cover” is a new play from the actor and writer Oliver Cotton, responsible for various films and plays over the years and well known for appearances in the likes of “As You Like It” and “The Crucible”. The show appeared at the King’s Head Theatre earlier in the year and whilst there featured familiar faces in Michael Brandon and Steve Furst, two actors who join the production as it makes its way to the Arts Theatre in the West End.
Michael Brandon received a nomination for a Laurence Olivier Award for his appearance in the title role of the highly controversial “Jerry Spring the Opera”, however he is perhaps best known for his appearance in the classic 80s cop show “Dempsey and Makepeace”, a show he appeared in alongside his other credits like “The Bill”, Doctor Who” and “Dead Man Weds”.
Meanwhile, co-star Steve Furst is a familiar face to anyone who has watched comedy shows like “Little Britain” and “Catterick”, where he has worked alongside the likes of Matt Lucas, David Walliams, Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. However, he will also be recognised for appearing in the ongoing Orange Mobile phone ads which play before movies up and down the country. His other credits include further television shows such as “Rob Brydon’s Annually Retentive”, “The Late Edition with Marcus Brigstocke” and others.
The two portray actors Brad and Stuart in “Wet Weather Cover”, a play in which the tensions rise between the two leads and breaking point is soon reached. The two come from very different backgrounds and are on set in Spain when a rain storm forces them to seek refuge inside a leaky trailer. Whilst they wait for the torrential downpour to subside so that they can get back to work, the pair come head to head and agreements that they have made in the past begin to fall by the wayside.
The play is likely to be a popular draw when it opens in the West End, with newcomer Kate Fahy taking on the reigns as director following many years of working as an actor on the stage and onscreen.
In addition to Brandon and Furst, the production also features the acting talents of Pepe Balderrama.
