Going from strength to strength, “Strictly Come Dancing” spreads its wings further in 2010 with the announcement of “Strictly Come Dancing – The Professionals”, a new touring show for the new decade. It features the professional dancers from the television series taking to the road and showcasing spectacular renditions of famous dances from the series, as well as some exclusive content that has been strictly devised for the stage.
It is the first time this dance extravaganza has taken place and during early July 2010, the HMV Hammersmith Apollo will be the home to this anticipated dance event.
After seven years, the television show “Strictly Come Dancing” remains at the top of its game, with audiences continuing to tune in every week for the next stage in the competition. Since 2004 it has seen Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly step in front of the camera to present the proceedings and, each year, viewing figures go sky high for the final. The format is so popular that the show has since been sold to countries around the world, demonstrating the wide appeal of “Strictly Come Dancing” and its ability to travel enormous distances.
Series 7, the latest series in 2009, saw Chris Hollins from BBC Breakfast emerge as the competition winner alongside his professional partner Ola Jordan. It was a year that saw many changes and one of these was the addition of new professionals Aliona Vilani and Natalie Lowe, who teamed up with Ray Wilding and Ricky Whittle respectively. Now, when “Strictly Come Dancing – The Professionals” head to the stage, they will be appearing alongside Flavia Cacace, Matthew Cutler, Brian Fortuna,Ola and James Jordan, Kristina Rihanoff, Vincent Simone, and Ian Waite.
Aliona Vilani had plenty of experience before joining “Strictly Come Dancing”, having lived as a performing and competing dancer in Los Angeles since 2006. The Russian dancer has also been lending her skills to the next generation and will be a worthy part of the upcoming line up.
Meanwhile, Natalie Lowe is well known from series 7 for coming second in the competition with Ricky Whittle. Prior to joining “Strictly Come Dancing”, she had been a prominent part of the Australian version of the competition “Dancing with the Stars”, winning the 2006 series alongside Australian footballer Anthony Koutoufides.
