There isn’t a person in the UK who is not familiar with the story of “Cinderella” and this year a spectacular ice show based on the classic story will be landing on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall.
The team behind the anticipated production is the Imperial Ice Stars, a theatrical ice skating team that has taken the world by storm. They are true professionals, who will stun London audiences with a show that adds a new twist to the classic story and provides people with a memorable experience that will stay with them for many years to come.
“Cinderella”, as told by the Imperial Ice Stars, focuses on the title character – a chorus dancer from humble surroundings who finds herself thrust into a world of glitz and glamour under the spotlight. As a spectacularly talented ballerina, she manages to wow everyone who witnesses her performances, including the Lord Mayor’s son – a prize bachelor of the town. Cinderella must therefore thwart the attempts of her ballerina stepsister, who attempt to steal his coveted heart for their own, with their wicked stepmother the brains behind the evil scheme. Ultimately, however, true love conquers all and thanks to the help of those around her, Cinderella can find true happiness.
The Imperial Ice Stars have made quite a name for themselves by showcasing some renowned shows all over the world. Before “Cinderella One Ice” came to fruition, they won many admirers with “Swan Lake On Ice” and “Sleeping Beauty On Ice” before that. The latter was performed in front of hundreds of thousands of people across several countries, with audiences and critics alike united in praise for their compelling performance. With “Cinderella On Ice”, the talented Tony Mercer choreographed and conceived the show, having took the helm of “Sleeping Beauty” previously. Another returning star of “Sleeping Beauty” is Evgeny Platov, the Olympic Gold Medallist and World Champion Ice Skater who will wow audiences with a display of talents one would normally find at the Winter Olympics.
The performance of Platov is just one face amongst 25 strong performers. These skaters are all from championship backgrounds and have wowed audiences around the world, whilst their skills will be amplified on stage by the pre-recorded music of the Moscow State Cinematic Orchestra and the Manchester Symphony Orchestra, whilst a live orchestra on stage will add to the mix on the night.
“Cinderella On Ice” makes its triumphant appearance at the Royal Albert Hall from Wednesday 24th February 2010 to Sunday 28th February 2010.
