Synopsis Add A Review

Earlier in 2009 The 7 Fingers, or Les 7 doigts de la Main, presented “Traces” at the Peacock Theatre. It was a show that took audiences on a dizzying spectacle and further cemented the success they had felt when the show was first seen in the UK back at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Critics hailed it as a unique and spectacular work, one that would inspire its audience with the sheer creativity on display.

Now the renowned circus company returns to the stage of the Peacock Theatre, this time presenting “Psy” for the crowds, a brand new circus experience that is said to be inspired by the human psyche and the vivid, absurd and surreal world that it encompasses.

“Psy” celebrates the human psyche and demonstrates how the individual can get past the ailments that rattle them. As a result, audiences will witness amazing displays of acrobatic skill against a backdrop of distorted images from the mind, playing on the dreams, memories and interpretations that we encounter. We are introduced to a range of colourful characters that will take us through proceedings, all with their own ticks and neuroses that can only be eased through the use of circus skills, with a range of talents on display that act as a window into the world faced with psychological ailments.

The 7 Fingers is regularly hailed as one of the most creative, inventive and unique circus companies that are operating in the world today and “Psy” will be a testament to that, effortlessly merging great skills with a compelling narrative. They are always known to delve a little deeper into what can be achieved with circus skills, never settling on a simple display of the performers. It means that audiences can always expect something a little different from them; a show that they will remember for many years to come.

The group first emerged in Montreal back in 2002, with various performers deciding to work together after learning the trade with many well known circus companies, including the Cirque de Soleil and the Teatro Zinzanni. From their first show “LOFT”, they have consistently pushed the boundaries on the circus and given it a new flavour to fans around the world.

“Psy” makes its anticipated appearance at the Peacock Theatre from Wednesday 28th April 2010 to Saturday 15th May 2010.
