The Peacock Theatre is set to become the proud home of “Blaze” in 2010 as the popular dance show chooses its stage for the World Premiere and British run of its anticipated international tour. It appears as part of the Peacock Theatre’s 2010 season, with a host of world class talent at the helm and an array of talented dancers wowing audiences as they undoubtedly will on stages around the globe.
A brand new phenomenon, “Blaze” is certain to attract a large number of people to its spectacular production values, unbeatable dance moves and non-stop music.
The show is said to mix various styles to give it a unique spin on the stage, with the vibes present in the nightclub emanating between spectacular aesthetic designs so that the audience feels as though it has stepped into a music venue for an epic gig, whilst the theatrics give things a unique flare. They will watch in awe as 14 world class street dancers take to the stage showcasing the moves they have been taught by internationally renowned choreographer Anthony Van Laast.
Van Laast is an alumni of the London School of Contemporary Dance, having trained and performed with the group. Since then he has leant his hand to a number of renowned shows around the world, from his Laurence Olivier Award nominated turns choreographing “Hair” and “The Beggar’s Opera” in London, to his work directing various well known shows. His other credits include choreographing “Mamma Mia!” in London, “Annie Get Your Gun” in London, “Into the Woods” in London” and “A Little Night Music” in London, whilst he has also directed touring versions of “Burn the Floor” and “Kiri Te Kanawa’s 50th Birthday Concert” at the Royal Albert Hall.
To bring the show fully to life “Blaze” also employs the designs of Es Devlin, an award winning theatre designer who has been designing unique and well known designs for theatrical productions around the country. Her credits include “Hecuba” for the Royal Shakespeare Company and “Howie The Rookie” at the Bush Theatre, with the latter winning her a TMA Best Design Award. She has worked alongside the likes of Harold Pinter on plays such as “Betrayal” whilst finding time to work for many further productions of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
“Blaze” makes its appearance at the Peacock Theatre from Thursday 11th March 2010 to Sunday 28th March 2010.
