Stephen and the Sexy Partridge - Trafalgar Studios, Studio 2
This Christmas, audiences will be given a seasonal treat with a difference at the Trafalgar Studio 2 as “Stephen and the Sexy Partridge” lands on the stage with Finnian O’Neill and Lily Bevan amongst the stars of the show.
The pair also pen proceedings, which will appear in a late evening slot from November 2009 to January 2010 meaning it will appear after the earlier performances of “Potted Potter: The Unauthorised Harry Experience”.
But what exactly happens in “Stephen and the Sexy Partridge”? The show is loosely inspired by the Christmas song “The Twelve Days of Christmas” and stars the likes of Lizzie Winkler, Gemma Whelan, Maggie Service, Lucia McAnespie, Pandora Colin and Lorna Beckett. It will certainly be a surreal addition to the Christmas line up in London, asking us if there is a problem in the world that cannot be solved by a partridge and in particular a sexy one at that. Along the way, the audience will be treated to sights such as revolutionary hens, dancing swans, bagpipes and potatoes, whilst the star attraction of the show will of course be the love between Stephen and his bird.
Actor O’Neill is an alumni of the prestigious Cambridge Footlights, a group that has given the world the likes of Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, David Mitchell and the Monty Python team (Cleese and Clapham attended). During his tenure he appeared in a range of productions such as “Sinbad The Sailor” and The Trojan Woman”, whilst his later appearances included “Bright Collapse” and “Moving Parts”.
His co writer and co star Lily Bevan has appeared in various productions in London, including stage work in the likes of “Kindertransport” at the Hampstead Theatre in 2007 and “A Voyage Round My Father” at the Donmar Warehouse and Wyndham’s Theatre.
With the designs of Guiseppe and Emma Belli and the production of Osip Theatre, “Stephen and the Sexy Partridge” will be directed by Cal McCrystal, a director and actor who has worked alongside some well known names in the entertainment world. His credits include “The Mighty Boosh”, “Miss Behave’s Variety Night”, “Spymonkey”, “Four Poofs and a Piano” and television’s “Comedy Cuts”. As well as these, his performing credits include appearances in “Spring Awakening” at the Young Vic” as well as roles in “The Detectives” and “EastEnders”.
“Stephen and the Sexy Partridge” is at the Trafalgar Studios 2 from Monday 30th November 2009 (previews from Wednesday 25th November 2009) and continues to Saturday 2nd January 2010.
