The phenomenon that is “Strictly Come Dancing” returns to the road once more with a brand new live show following the spectacular seventh series of the television event.
The 2009 tour may seem like a distant memory, but the new show arrives before we’ve had a chance to forget about it, racing to arenas all over the country to repeat previous successes. 2009 saw more than 50,000 eager fans witness the proceedings and this year extra dates have already been added to particular dates, with producers anticipating a huge response.
In the second half of February, the show arrives at the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena for three dates in which audiences will have the opportunity to witness stars old and new battle it out for the top prize of the Glitter Ball Trophy.
Just like the TV show, “Strictly Come Dancing Live” sees the celebrity contestants take to the dance floor to showcase the skills they have learnt, all hoping to impress the panel of judges, appearing straight from our screens. In the first half, these dances will also have to impress the crowd as it is up to them who wins and who loses, with the voting commencing during the interval.
The format could obviously change, but this was how 2009 saw proceedings and in the second half audiences witnessed the group dance followed by the professional dance, giving them plenty to think about before the moment of truth – the announcement of the winner.
Last year’s contestants included stars from various series, including 2008’s Tom Chambers, as well as Gethin Jones, Julian Clary, Rachel Stevens and Jill Halfpenny, with professionals that included Erin Boag, Matthew Cutler and Kristina Rihanoff. The events were then presented by Kate Thornton.
At the end of 2009, the latest series of “Strictly Come Dancing” arrived on our screens, with presenting talents from Tess Daly and Bruce Forsyth and a revamped panel of judges that consisted of Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood, Len Goodman and Alesha Dixon. Each week the contestants battled through various well known dances with a different pairing voted at the end. As always, it had people glued to their television screens, eagerly awaiting the results.
