Synopsis

Audiences in Glasgow will have another opportunity to witness their favourite celebrities take to the SECC to showcase the talents they mastered on the popular television series “Strictly Come Dancing”, when the live tour reappears in 2010.

The seventh series made a triumphant return to BBC at the end of 2009, pleasing its many fans whilst also bolstering anticipation for the arena tour everyone looks forward to in the New Year. 2009 proved to be a monumental success for the tour, with more than 50,000 people witnessing the likes of Rachel Stevens, Tom Chambers and company strut their stuff.

So 2010 is likely to see similar numbers, or possibly even more as many cities have extra dates to celebrate, giving them a greater chance of witnessing the spectacle. For those in Glasgow, they will have their chance during the first half of February, even including Valentine’s Day.

The live show features contestants from various series of the show, from recent incarnations to series gone by, with a showcase that mirrors the programme seen on television screens. The format could easily change but the magic and the spirit remains intact, as audiences witness two acts of spectacular dancing. The first act of forty five minutes features the dancers showcasing the talents that will be scrutinised, with the judges looking on over the proceedings. However, the ultimate decision is down to the audience with the interval giving them ample time to cast their votes, leading into the second act, where the group and professional dances take place, before the winner is finally announced and handed the coveted Glitter Ball trophy.

When the seventh series began at the end of 2009 it proved to be as popular as ever, with Tess Daly and Bruce Forsyth returning to guide the events, whilst judges such as Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli, Alesha Dixon and Len Goodman cast their critical eyes. With dances that include the Tango and the Mambo, plus everything in between, the contestants battled it out to the end.

The SECC (The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre) will provide the perfect stomping grounds for the live tour, being the premier venue in Scotland for the best performing talents. 2009 saw it host the MOBO Awards, attracting musicians from all over the world, whilst individual shows regularly attract thousands of eager punters.

“Strictly Come Dancing Live 2010” is at the SECC in Glasgow from Thursday 11th February 2010 to Sunday 14th February 2010.
