Synopsis

Sheffield will be opening its doors once more for the performance sensation that is “Strictly Come Dancing Live”, when the popular touring version of the hit television show returns to the road.

The show managed to bring in big crowds during its 2009 tour, with various venues adding extra dates across the country in anticipation of the numbers that will undoubtedly arrive in 2010. With more than 50,000 fans in attendance last year, it is no wonder.

So this year, fans in Sheffield will have the chance to witness “Strictly Come Dancing” on five dates at the end of January 2010, where they can experience the same joys they witness on the television show each year.

The seventh series of “Strictly Come Dancing” hit television screens at the end of 2009, with Tess Daly and Bruce Forsyth once again presenting the proceedings as celebrity contestants battled it out for the top prize by dancing alongside their professional partners. Each week a dancing team leaves and those that remain have their chances increased of being crowned the winner, returning to dance once more in front of the judges that include Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood, Len Goodman and Alesha Dixon. It is a format that regularly attracts a monumental number of viewers each week, regularly reaching up to 9 million at times and dominating discussions around the country.

The format could easily change, but the show audiences saw in 2009 proved popular and those visiting in 2010 will certainly feel the same magic. Contestants are yet to be announced but last year Tom Chambers appeared alongside Jill Halfpenny, Rachel Stevens, Jodie Kidd, Gethin Jones, Julian Clarey, Kenny Logan and Cherie Lunghi. In the first forty five minutes they battled it out with the dances that could win them the prize, before the interval opened up the proceedings to the audience, who cast their votes. The second forty five minutes then featured the group dance, the professional dance and eventually the moment that everyone had been eagerly waiting for – the announcement of the winner!

Sheffield will prove to be a great place to catch “Strictly Come Dancing Live 2010”, proving to be a city with many big names arriving to showcase their talents, from popular musicians to high calibre comedians.

“Strictly Come Dancing Live 2010” is at the Sheffield Arena from Friday 29th January 2010 to Sunday 31st January 2010.
