The best variety show around lands at the Leicester Square Theatre this August with stage stars James Devine, Miss Polly Rae and Ivy Paige all making welcome appearances in the London venue.
For fans of this kind of entertainment, which mixes variety with burlesque, they have the American Jonathon Brielle to thank, as well as Martin Witts, who present a show that fuses an array of styles, including comedy, punk rock and Irish dance.
Brielle himself is well known in the music and theatre world and has worked hard to bring a variety of productions to fruition. Amongst his previous credits is the opening number for the MTV Music Awards, though he has also worked for American Theatre productions such as “Himself & Nora” (which may be appearing on Broadway soon), “Nightmare Alley” and “Rugrats, Live!”
Providing the mentioned dance is the Irish sensation James Devine, who appears following his claim to the Guinness World Record for the fastest tap dancing on the planet. Over the years he has held a number of enviable positions, using his skills to work as a choreographer and director as well as the performing style that has kept him active since 2006.
Audiences will also be flocking to see Miss Polly Rae, the Queen of Leicester Square, who has been seen in the venue recently with her show in which she showcased burlesque alongside her “Hurly Burly Girlys”. She is well known for her entertaining mixes of theatre, dance and song, making her a highly sought after performer that manages to hold on to her impressive accolade as Queen of Leicester Square, despite climbing to the top without any formal training.
Finally, Ivy Paige is often heralded as the “Scarlett Temptress”, or “London’s Scarlett Cockney Temptress”, a title she has found with her mix of burlesque alongside stories and stand up comedy. Her career has taken her around the world and the stories that encompass these travels often make up a large part of her act.
They all make up what is celebrated as a 21st century burlesque show, which will effortlessly entertain crowds during its run and further cement is performers as London stage stars.
