Synopsis

Though it has been forty years since the original Rat Pack wowed audiences in Las Vegas, their show returns to a West End stage with “The Rat Pack Live From Vegas”, which lands at the Adelphi Theatre in 2009. It aims to recreate the magic which audiences experienced in the 1960s when Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin all took to the stage and brought Las Vegas to life.

“The Rat Pack Live From Vegas” was originally seen in the West End in 2003 when it opened at the Theatre Royal in Haymarket and stayed in London (moving through various theatres, such as the Novello Theatre) until 2006.  But this is the first time it has been staged for an extended period of time since that date.

In the 1960s, the Rat Pack were at the top of their game, managing to bring in huge crowds to their shows in Vegas, with audiences eager to catch a glimpse of the world’s most notorious and celebrated stars. Many people celebrated the team, but most people wanted to actually be them, taking part in their all-singing and all-partying lifestyle. Throughout the 60s, this stardom allowed them to appear in a string of films, such as “Ocean’s 11” (1960), “Sergeants 3” (1962) and “Robin And The 7 Hoods” (1964).

The press coined the term Rat Pack to describe them, though there were other incarnations of the pack, including an earlier generation that consisted of Humphrey Bogart, Katherine Hepburn and Judy Garland amongst others. But along with Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford, it was the team of Sinatra, Martin and Davies who are remembered in this way and this show will take audiences back in the moment. To do this “The Rat Pack Live From Vegas” employs the help of a fifteen piece orchestra who will bring their shows to life. The lookalike personalities will sing songs such as “I've Got You Under My Skin”, “New York, New York”, “Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime”, “My Way”, “Strangers In The Night”, “The Lady Is A Tramp”, “Memories Are Made Of This”, “Witchcraft”, “Night And Day”, “My Way” and “That's Amore”. Alongside The Berrelli Sisters they will make audiences believe that the Rat Pack has been reborn.

“The Rat Pack Live From Las Vegas” is at the Adelphi Theatre from Monday 28th September 2009 (previews from Thursday 24th September 2009) to Saturday 21st November 2009.
