The Udderbelly is making a surprise appearance in London in 2009 after making a name for itself at the annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe, as well as the Brighton Festival. It is a great place to witness some of the best entertainment this country has to offer, with an array of acts appearing under its roof (or in this case, udders). There will be a whole host of entertainers and comedians appearing throughout June and July. It isn’t even hard to find, after all who could miss a giant upside down cow at the Southbank Centre?
During June and July 2009 the venue will be the home to the Tom Tom Crew, who will undoubtedly impress audiences with their spectacular mix of circus and music. It is all there right on stage as they showcase the talent that has made them sell-out successes at both the Edinburgh Festival and the Sydney Opera House. It’s hard to describe what’s on show here, with a unique array of acts taking to the stage and wowing audiences to the very end, undoubtedly leaving them wanting even more.
The Tom Tom Crew consists of Tom Thum (a beat boxing superstar, who will make you look at the art in a whole new way), Ben Walsh (a world class drummer) and DJ Dizz1 (a record scratching extraordinaire). They are also joined on stage by the best acrobats that Australia has to offer, which means that some high octane circus acrobatics are on show whilst epic drumming amplifies the raw power on display. Fans of contemporary music and Asian drumming will be right at home here, and for those who are not, it will still be a dizzying spectacle.
The Tom Tom Crew offer a hour of great quality entertainment that critics have been calling “an enjoyable, high-energy family show” (Lyn Gardner – The Guardian) and “Pure feel-good entertainment” (The London Paper). It means that audiences can be expected to attend this event and leave with shock in their eyes, unable to contain their excitement at how great the action was, and how close it was. After all, as the London Paper says, “This has to be one of the few shows where the audience is actually begged to remain sitting”.
