Synopsis

There’s no one quite like Ross Noble. This comedian takes on the daunting task of standing in front of a large crowd and entertaining them on his own for over two hours. Just like any other comedian, right? Well, Noble also happens to be able to do this without the need for any preparation!

Noble has made quite a name for himself for his surreal flights of fancy, in which he largely improvises his whole routine based on audience heckles and his own meandering brain. It means that he starts threads and weaves them through absurd images before forgetting what he was talking about and going off on a tangent – but it’s all hilarious.

During 2009, Noble has been touring the UK with his current show Things, which he will be finishing with a long stint at the Apollo Theatre in September, for a six week run.

Expect a completely unique show each night, as the Geordie comic lets his imagination run wild. There’s a good reason that he was voted 10th in a list of the 100 best comedians by Channel 4.

Noble has made various appearances on television shows over the years, with credits that include “Have I Got News For You” (for which he scored 0 with Paul Merton on one of his appearances), “Room 101” and the comedy showcase “Live at the Apollo”. He has also made appearances on Radio 4 for various programmes as well as appearing regularly on Australian television – where he currently resides with his wife. He has been performing comedy since he was 15, back when licensing laws meant that he had to leave through a back door as soon as his set was over.

And since then he has made a name for himself with his various touring shows, which have included “Sonic Waffle”, “Unrealtime”, “Noodlemeister”, “Randomist”, “Fizzy Logic” and “Nobleism” – when you couple these with his current show’s title “Things”, you begin to see what kind of ideas are going through this man’s head.

It promises to be an entertaining show, which will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen – even if you’ve seen Noble before.

Ross Noble: Things is at the Apollo Theatre from Monday 14th September 2009 until Saturday 24th October 2009.
