An evening of humour, wit, shock and satire!
If you enjoy all things outrageous and outspoken then you will love Sandra Bernhard. This talented and over the top performer from the US is known for her sharp tongue and biting satire. She is famous for witty and shrewd commentary on celebrity culture in the 1970’s and more famously for her close relationship with Madonna in the 1980’s.
She is no stranger to controversy either: she appeared in a commercial for MAC (Make Up Art Cosmetics) in which she promoted a particular brand of lip gloss. Being aware of her reputation for outspokenness she made a comment which could be seen as offensive to a section of their target audience.
As a result of that MAC edited out her comments to prevent losing a large proportion of their customers.
On another occasion she managed to offend Governor Sarah Palin – Vice Presidential candidate and running mate to John McCain. Bernhard later stated that her comments had been taken out of context.
She is a bright, talented singer, comedian, actress and author who lets rip on the state of society and modern culture in general. Nothing or nobody escapes her razor sharp comments and she tends to say what many of us think but are too afraid to say!
Together with her band The Rebellious Jezebels she promises an evening of outspoken views and sharp witted commentary that you will certainly enjoy! Politicians, celebrities, everyone is fair game and no one is safe from her take on what is wrong with modern life in general.
Sandra Bernhard opens on the 26th May 2009 at Leicester Square Theatre and runs until the 5th June 2009.
