Synopsis

Strictly Comes Dancing has been entertaining and wowing audiences for many years now, and in the process has brought the likes of Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova to acclaim in the United Kingdom; placing them firmly in the spotlight. Now it has also given them the opportunity to showcase some of the best Latin American dance and music numbers to audiences who are likely to delight in such an experience. Latin American music is loved all over the world and that is why such an eye opening experience will arrive at the Peacock theatre in May 2009.

Professional dancers Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova are the best people to take you on this epic voyage of discovery, having found success on the BBC reality show. Strictly (as it is known) has run for six whole series and has gripped the country with its great dance routines and its celebrities hoping for a place in the finals as well as at the top of the leader board. Across the series we have been witnesses to the likes of Patsy Palmer, Rachel Stevens, John Sergeant, Lesley Garrett, Julian Clary, Colin Jackson, Martin Offiah, Kate Garraway, Chris Parker and Natasha Kaplinsky trying to make it to the top.

And how do they take us on this thrilling adventure of Latin Fever? Well, the best way to show off anything like this is lead us every step of the way through different eras and different countries where various styles have their foundations. This is exactly why Latin Fever succeeds at being a great show, opening at the Carnival in Rio as we are transported to Brazilian fun. We then move on to Buenos Aires where we are given the opportunity to witness the tango before skipping off to Cuba and being dazzled by the wonders of the rumba and the cha cha cha. Then it’s time for a change of era and a trip back to the 1920s. Here we witness the swing of American Dance halls. Next stop is Spain where we experience more highlights in the form of the Paso Doblè. All of this is sure to leave you breathless in a thrilling and exciting voyage. You will be smiling all the way home after observing the dance numbers that have entertained us for many years.

Latin Fever is at the Peacock Theatre from Wednesday 27th May 2009 to Sunday 28th June 2009.
