The O2 Arena will be taken back in time next August as the Walking With Dinosaurs world tour finds its way to the nation’s capital. The hit BBC television show has been given a new lease of life in arenas all over the world (as well as dinosaurs), so although it will be 2009 when you walk through those doors, you will think you’ve been transported 65 million years back in time once those doors close behind you. Newsweek says that it is “that rare entertainment beast that parents and kids can enjoy together” whilst Variety adds that the dinosaurs and effects are “stunning and faultlessly nimble”.
Designers who are sought all over the world have worked hard to bring the huge dinosaurs to life, along with top scientists to create total accuracy. Watch in awe as favourites like the Tyrannosaurus Rex dwarf the arena setting and give you a new perspective on the prehistoric way of life. It is sure to leave the young and old speechless. The return of dinosaurs should not be missed so make sure you have your tickets and you catch this amazing phenomenon.
Walking With Dinosaurs found great success with the television show of the same name. It first aired in the United Kingdom in 1999 with narration from none other than Kenneth Branagh. With computer effects it was able to recreate the world of the dinosaurs and produce what appeared as a nature documentary. With palaeontologists on hand to advise them the show became a huge success. It is also the most expensive documentary series ever made (per minute) according to the Guinness Book Of Records. Now, it is making another innovative step as it moves to the world of live audiences.
The show features a cast that includes the allosaurus, the taurosaurus, the utahraptor and of course the most famous dinosaur of them all the 20ft tall Tyrannosaurus Rex. With creator and producer of the series Tim Haines helping with the show, it will be the closest you can come to seeing dinosaurs return to their home on Earth.
With the glorious setting of the O2 Arena, this is not one to be missed.
