Synopsis

The creators of Stomp come to the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival hall this Christmas with their brand new show Lost And Found Orchestra. This is the natural follow up to the antics of Stomp, where they proved that anything you can find can be used as percussion. In this show they prove that pretty much anything can be used for the rest of the orchestra as well. This show is receiving great praise with The Guardian saying that “It is exhilarating and strangely beautiful... unpretentious, infectious and great fun”, whilst The Independent calls it “A celebration of energy, rhythm and inventiveness. A sprawling, exhilarating event...it's already unmissable” and the Daily Telegraph says “it’s the opposite of rubbish”.

In Lost And Found Orchestra you will be greeted by the sight of an orchestra of fifty actors, musicians, instrumentalists, singers and dancers playing instruments they have either found or invented from scratch. This brilliantly unique show features all sorts of recognisable items used in a whole new way. Kitchen cauldrons appear as trombones, saws appear as violins and other string instruments, whilst kettles and the like appear as brass instruments with hoovers, hair dryers, traffic cones and plastic piping all making an appearance.

The creators of Stomp Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas return with Lost And Found Orchestra. Cresswell is an acclaimed dancer, choreographer and percussionist who is responsible for a lot of work for film, such as Riot (1997). As a session musician he has worked with the likes of Elvis Costello, Bette Midler, Freak Power and Bryan Ferry. Nicholas is also a dancer and choreographer whose music for television includes Mr Bean and (like Cresswell) the 1997 movie Riot. Together they created Stomp and were part of the cabaret and busking group Pookiesnackenburger.

Performers you will see onstage include Johannes Bohun, Simone Clarke and Steven-Dean Davis. Bohun has previously worked on Stomp and toured with the show from 2001. He is a musician who, based on Vienna, writes and produces a range of music. Clarke is an acclaimed performer who teaches music and dance at schools in the London area whilst Davis has toured with rock bands, and appeared onstage in the likes of Macbeth, Sunday In The Park With George, The Rocky Horror Show and Annie.

Lost And Found Orchestra is at the Royal Festival Theatre from Sunday 21st December 2008 (previews from Friday 19th December 2008), currently booking until Sunday 11th January 2009.
