London’s Gielgud’s Theatre is the final stop of the Bill Bailey juggernaut Tinselworm, the show that has been entertaining audiences on both sides of the world since 2007. Starting with a UK arena tour in 2007, the stand up show then successfully toured in both Australia and New Zealand during 2008. Bailey is guaranteed to give you an entertaining night as one of Britain’s best loved comedy talents. The show continues at the Gielgud until Saturday 20th December 2008.
Bill Bailey has achieved deserved success that most stand up comedians could only dream of. His television credits include the popular panel show Never Mind The Buzzcocks, formerly presented by Mark Lamarr and now fronted by Simon Amstell. He has appeared on Stephen Fry’s Qi and of course Have I Got News For You. Outside of panel shows he has appeared in Spaced, the Simon Pegg and Jessica Hynes vehicle from the early 2000s and of course Black Books alongside Dylan Moran. He has also appeared in films such as The Libertine and the British Cop Comedy Hot Fuzz. He has been performing comedy in some form since the 80s but it was not until the late nineties that he began to make a name for himself outside of the comedy circuit, appearing in solo shows such as Cosmic Jam, Bewilderness and more recently the 2004 hit Part Troll.
Tinselworm is a show clearly moulded around Bailey’s fame with jokes and monologues revolving around his new experiences as a man people recognise. Jokes range from movies to Asda whilst using music to his advantage with musical numbers from Star Wars and suggesting The Pink Panther as a national anthem. Watch his mind unravel onstage as he enters worlds of surreal bewilderment and then somehow tries to find a way out of them. He is not quite as laid back as he used to be, but he is just as funny and just as imaginative.
Recently, Bailey also delighted audiences with his Remarkable Guide To The Orchestra, where he used the BBC Concert Orchestra to add a new depth to his musical journey and used the glorious setting of the Royal Albert Hall to his advantage.
This is the last chance to witness Tinselworm live. Come and watch Bill as he appears onstage and on enormous projection screens that make sure no punter is without a view of the long haired comedian.
