Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood is the director of this brand new music and dance show which is appearing in London’s West End after a sell-out stint in Paris.
Flamenco Flamen’ka brings you the most talented Flamenco and Latin performers in the world, with Karen Ruimy (who also narrates), Marjorie Ascione and Manuel Gutierrez Cabello who will entertain you with a delightful and magnificent experience. The show is choreographed by Ascione, Gutierrez Cabello and Jerome Couchart and promises to be a brilliant evening.
Set in Bordello, the show is about a tragic love triangle of jealousy and betrayal, which culminates in a tragic climax. The show is based on the short story The Intruder by Juorges Luis Borges which is about two brothers in love with the same woman. Flamenco Flamen’ka showcases not just flamenco, but also the tango and contemporary ballet, giving an electrifying mix of traditional dance and modern favourites, all of which gives the story a brilliant flare. The show also features music from the Bolero, The Impossible Dream and original material by Bruno Rubera.
Craig Revel Horwood is perhaps best known as the judge on Strictly Come Dancing, but that’s not all. He has also received Olivier Award nominations for best choreography for his previous West End credits including Spend Spend Spend and My One and Only. Additionally, he was associate director/choreographer of West Side Story, a resident director of Miss Saigon and recently brought us Sunset Boulevard at Newbury’s Watermill Theatre. He’s certainly been busy this summer, having also completed his autobiography Glitter. My Life. Soon we’ll see him again when he returns to screens in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. But now he brings Flamenco Flamen’ka to the Lyric Theatre for an amazing night.
The show is described as ‘a stampede of wildly passionate dance and music’ and we can certainly take a lot from its tagline:
‘Watch Flamenco? Live Flamen’ka!’
