The Comedy on Panton Street, London will stage a new play from American writer and director Neil La Bute. Fat Pig tackles the subject of size and the attitude placed upon larger people by today society. Tom is an average man who works in an office. Helen is a sexy lady – funny and intelligent…it just so happens that she is also rather large. When the two of them meet there’s a connection that could easily progress into a wonderful relationship, but first there are some hurdles to get past. Tom friends from the office are one of those hurdles – they aren’t impressed with Helen and her size causes some snide remarks. These snide remarks turn into waves of abuse in what is cruel but funny. That is not to say the characters are so cruel they are two dimensional, as each of them has a believable background which truly makes them human.
Kevin Bishop takes over the role played by My Family’s Kris Marshall in the original production of this show when it was housed at the Trafalgar Studios One earlier this year with Peep Show’s Robert Webb in a supporting role. Nicholas Burns takes over from Webb with Kelly Brook is expected to appear in the production from October 16th onwards as Jeannie, originally played by Joanna Page. Kevin Bishop is well known for starring in the successful Star Stories and The Kevin Bishop Show on Channel 4, making his mark in Britain as a highly talented comedian and impressionist. Ella Smith remains in the title role of Helen, after making the role her own at the Trafalgar Studios.
