Synopsis

Delve into the world of private education in “Daisy Pulls It Off”, coming in January to the Arts Theatre. It is look at the lives of those within this system, particularly on one person who was not born into a wealthy background. With excitement and adventure, “Daisy Pulls It Off” is certain to be a compelling and gripping ride from start to finish as a girl overcomes adversity to go on the journey of her life.

From the pen of novelist Denise Deegan, the show is great for anyone that is a fan of Enid Blyton and other famous stories that involve young people, treasure and friendship. Over the years, Deegan has written numerous works that have also included “No Birds Sing”, “A Late Late Christmas Carol”, “The Midsummer Gathering”, “The One And Only Wonderous Legends Show” and “The Project”.

“Daisy Pulls It Off” focuses on a bygone era and in particular, on Daisy Meredith, a girl from a poor background of Opera singing parents, who gets a chance to study at Grangewood School for Young Ladies, a girls’ private boarding school. But being from a different background to the other girls there she soon discovers how hard it can be to fit it in, with her classmates looking down on her and going out of their way to get her expelled from the school.

But it is not all doom and gloom for Daisy and she finds friendship in Clare, the head girl, who has a hidden family treasure somewhere in the grounds. This could Daisy’s chance to have an adventure and escape from the wretched treatment she has been receiving, so the pair embark on a quest that sees them head out onto midnight journeys and get though some death-defying situations. But even when things seem to be calming, there are some hidden surprises yet to be found.

Amongst the cast is Fiona Domenica, who will portray Sybil Burlington in the production, one of Daisy’s arch enemies. She has portrayed the character previously, with a 2009 version seeing her step onto the stage of Barons Court. Amongst her credits are some low profile movies and a role in a 2004 episode of “Judge John Deed”.

“Daisy Pulls It Off” is at the Arts Theatre from Tuesday 19th January 2010 and will continue there until Saturday 6th February 2010.
